The Algarve now has fewer residency opportunities available for British buyers following recent changes to the Golden Visa scheme which came into effect this January. This scheme has proved very successful since its launch in 2012 and even more so in light of Brexit; providing eligible homeowners with five years’ residency rights and visa-free travel within the Schengen area of 26 European states, as well as the opportunity to live and work in Portugal and apply for citizenship after five years.
These new changes generally mean that coastal hotspots such as Lisbon, Porto, and the majority of the Algarve are now excluded from the Golden Visa scheme. However, through Quinta do Lago Real Estate, British buyers still have access to the attractive pro- gramme when investing in property within a tourist development — such as theWyndham Grand Algarve Residences, an exclusive collection of 132 private residences comprised of one- to three-bedroom apartments.
Quinta do Lago Real Estate is selling these apartments from €534,000, both for their long-term investment and a guaranteed annual return of 4% minimum for deeds signed until March 31, 2022, including service charges. This provides buyers with five-star service and access to everything the resort offers.
At the same time, homeowners will continue to receive the unique investment opportunities that are still available through the Golden Visa scheme.
Quinta do Lago is one of the most highly regarded residential and golf developments in Europe. With 50 years of history, Quinta do Lago features an exclusive and luxurious residential portfolio. The resort’s low-density masterplan is set within the heart of the Ria Formosa nature reserve, boasting vibrant and open green spaces where residents can enjoy a welcoming and relaxed environment, cuisine, award-winning golf courses and a breadth of sporting activities through the premier multi-sports hub, The Campus.
