Amigos de Música have announced two classical concerts at ‘Os Agostos’ country estate

The country estate Os Agostos, near Santa Bárbara de Nexe, will host two classical concerts by Dutch musicians Jeroen de Groot (violin) and Bart van der Roer (piano).

The first concert will be held this Tuesday, April 26, at 7pm, with the two musicians playing pieces by Bach, Brahms and Beethoven. And later this Thursday, April 28, at 7pm, Jeroen and Bart will perform pieces by Grieg, Saint-Saens, Ysaÿe and Ravel.

Jeroen de Groot

Jeroen de Groot was born in 1961 and, from the age of 11, studied at the Sweelinck Conservatorium of Music in Amsterdam. He won the Oskar Back National Violin Competition in 1985, which gave him a scholarship to continue his studies in Salzburg and Paris.

Whilst still a student, he won prizes at the ARD Musikwettbewerb in Munich and the international music contest in Scheveningen. Jeroen also won the Zilveren Vriendenkrans of The Concertgebouw and the Medaille d’Or at the Bordeaux Jeunes Solistes competition. He also plays as one of a duo with pianist Bernd Brackman and as a member of an orchestra.

Jeroen has given concerts throughout Europe, USA, South America, Canada and Japan. His violin is an Amati from about 1660. Andrea Amati (1505-1577) created the first violin, viola and cello in Cremona, Italy.

Bart van de Roer

Bart van de Roer was born in 1972 and had his first piano lessons when he was nine. In 1997, he graduated from the Sweelinck Conservatorium. As a student, he participated in a number of masterclasses and had lessons with several eminent musicians.

He founded the Storioni Trio with Marc and Wouter Vossen. The trio has been very successful and have performed at many major concert halls, such as The Carnegie, Wigmore and The Concertgebouw. They also founded the Storioni Festival, an annual international chamber music festival in and around Eindhoven. Bart has won many competitions including the Steinway. Bart is a professor of piano and chamber music at the Codarts Rotterdam University.
