The new Volvo Black Edition brings a fresh design combined with Swedish mastery
Although the EC40 was launched in 2021 (christened as ‘C40’ and renamed ‘EC40’ in early 2024), its design is so fresh that it could have hit the market last week.
In fact, the SUV coupé trend is here to stay and more and more brands are choosing this layout to woo customers – although not everyone can match the mastery of the Swedish designers.
The base model EC40 Black Edition is the Plus version, meaning it comes with standard Adaptive Cruise Control, Pilot Assist autonomous driving function and Keyless system.
For this striking new edition, Volvo has opted for the colour Onyx Black and added 20” alloy wheels with an exclusive design, black badges on the roof rails and window frames and front grille in what they call high-gloss black.
The Black Edition is available with all the electric powertrains in the range: Single Motor, Single Motor Extended Range and Twin Motor.
The latter can be fitted with the Performance Software Pack, which increases power by 25kW (34hp), taking it from 300kW (408hp) to 325kW (442hp), which drivers will appreciate.
