The ritual of relaxation
Open to hotel guests and outside clients since May, the Spa by Viceroy at Ombria Algarve, in the Loulé resort of the same name, aims to restore internal and external connection and provide physical, emotional, mental and social well-being, offering a range of treatments whilst taking in the panoramic views over the serene countryside of the Barrocal area.

There are two signature experiences designed to help guests achieve balance and a state of deep awareness: ‘Ritual’ and ‘Celebration of Love’, both lasting 120 minutes.
Whilst the former can be done individually, as a couple or in a group, with three options performed by specialist therapists, the latter is designed for couples and carried out in a private suite with a steam shower, jacuzzi and garden.

Only clients booked for a face or body treatment have access to the thermal zone, which includes a heated indoor and outdoor pool, two hammam rooms, a sauna and sensory showers.

There are more than a dozen treatments available, all of which offer “a unique holistic experience that combines local traditions with nature and allows for a deep reconnection with yourself and the environment”, says spa manager Léonie Gallo.

Born in France, where she trained in wellness, completed an intensive massage course and opened a spa at the five-star Villa la Coste hotel, Léonie brought all her expertise here to create this “unique concept based around love”.

After more than 15 years working in spas at hotels such as Domaine des Etangs and The Maybourne Riviera, she decided to bring her skills to the Algarve and develop a project where she could do what she has always dreamed of: “Help people feel good about themselves.”

In keeping with the Ombria Resort philosophy of sustainability and highlighting national and regional products, the Spa by Viceroy at Ombria Algarve has developed a range of products in collaboration with local producers and herbalists, including massage oils, body scrubs and herbal and hydrolat compresses.

Focused on offering a rich and complete package, the spa also partnered with Azorean skincare brand Ignae and Italian biodynamic agrocosmetics brand Oway and includes services such as hairdressing, barbering, manicure and pedicure.
The wellness centre also provides other innovative experiences, including the Path of Love, a monthly three-night programme during the New Moon, during which the Ritual of Love treatments are performed along with macrobiotic meals, yoga, meditation and cocoa ceremonies.

To celebrate the autumn equinox, a Solar Retreat is scheduled, from September 18 to 22, inspired by ancient cultural traditions and the cycles of nature.
