Wine and a movie under the stars 

Morgado do Quintão is starting a new cinema season under the stars.

In partnership with Counting Stars Open-Air Cinema, the Silves winery has curated a film lineup that celebrates freedom, transformation, joy, and human connection.

Participants are invited to come early to enjoy golden hour music, a glass of wine, and the embrace of the vineyard at twilight. Upcoming Films: Shine (July 10); Lost In Translation (August 21); Sideways (September 11); A Good Year (October 16).

Tickets cost €19 per person and include a glass of Morgado do Quintão wine. 

Generational wine 

Herdade Barranco do Vale, in São Bartolomeu de Messines, has just released Reserva Red 2024 (€14.95) and, with it, its annual letter to Grandfather Ramiro: a simple tribute to the person who started this journey.

Made by the family’s third generation of vintners, this blend of Castelão and Aragonez presents aromas of red fruit, spices and a hint of tobacco.

In the mouth, it’s slightly herbaceous and reveals the presence of wood, contributing to an aromatically rich wine. Smooth, enveloping, with good structure and silky tannins, it has a long, fresh and complex finish reflecting the terroir of this estate. 

Algarve Wine Guide 

Wine expert Luís Gradíssimo has just launched his first Algarve Wine Guide.

This guide is one of the most diverse examples of the wine potential of the Algarve region, evaluating 126 wines from 26 different producers, making it representative of the diversity in a relatively small region, with just over 700ha of vineyards.

For each wine evaluated, the guide offers detailed information on the vintage year, varieties, winemaking notes, and analytical data such as alcohol content, residual sugar, and acidity.
