Esporão presents Murças VV47, its latest Douro red

The Alentejo wine estate Herdade do Esporão recently presented the Murças VV47, its ninth Douro red and the ultimate expression of the terroir at Quinta dos Murças. Produced from the Douro region’s historic vertical vines, dating back to 1947, this distinct and innovative wine results from a field blend of various native grapes, examples of which are Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, among others.
With an intense colour speckled with violet, its aroma is bright and very complex, highlighted by ripe red berries, the balsamic notes characteristic of older vines, and spices afforded by the 12 months spent in the barrel. Particularly noteworthy is its elegance and harmony on the palate, dominated by very fine mature tannins and balanced acidity, with a long and persistent finish.
