Algarve flavours promise to win over visitors at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre
The Algarve region will showcase its diverse regional offer at Expovacaciones 2025, the leading tourism promotion event in northern Spain. The fair will take place from May 9 to 11 at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre, considered one of the most modern trade show venues in the world in terms of design and amenities.
Held under the slogan “Dream, Travel, Live”, the 45th edition of Expovacaciones will feature 198 exhibitions and 90 activities and tastings, spotlighting both Spanish and international destinations and traditions.
Centred around the “Experimenta & Saborea” (Experience & Taste) concept, visitors will be invited to engage with the fair using all five senses.

Turismo do Algarve will lead the promotion of the region, capitalising on the Algarve’s geographic proximity to Spain. The focus will be on regional gastronomy, a diverse tourist offering, and the potential of Algarve municipalities in the Spanish market.
Ten Algarve municipalities – Albufeira, Aljezur, Faro, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé, Olhão, Portimão, Vila do Bispo, and Vila Real de Santo António – will take part in the event. Represented in a reinforced space of 84 square metres, each will highlight its unique appeal, from award-winning beaches and historical and cultural heritage to nature tourism and regional wine and gastronomy.
The Algarve’s presence will also include a space dedicated exclusively to the Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina Communication and Branding Management Programme.
Over the course of the three-day event, the Algarve will bring the best of its flavours to northern Spain through live wine and gastronomy demonstrations. Visitors will be able to sample emblematic dishes such as cuttlefish cataplana with sweet potato and salicornia, lamb stew with pennyroyal and chickpeas, and claypot chicken with almonds.
These will be accompanied by traditional Algarve and Alentejo desserts, including doces finos, almendrados, and honey biscuits. The sessions will also feature wine tastings from both the Algarve and Alentejo regions.

André Gomes, president of Turismo do Algarve, underlined the strategic value of participating in the fair: “Expovacaciones is an essential opportunity to strengthen the Algarve as a tourist destination in the Spanish market, benefiting from our geographical proximity and direct air links with Bilbao and other Spanish cities. We want to highlight our territory and the diversity that it offers, from the excellence of the beaches and unspoilt nature to the rich cultural and gastronomic heritage that defines the authenticity of our region.”
To complement the experience, a variety of promotional materials will be available in Spanish, including natural park brochures, maps, and gastronomic guides, as well as institutional giveaways to offer visitors a richer understanding of what the Algarve has to offer.
