The recently opened W Algarve Hotel in Albufeira promises themed summer nights, wine experiences and new menus
The new Air champagne bar at W Algarve Hotel & Residences promises immersive experiences in an idyllic location.
Open since the beginning of June, the bar invites everyone, hotel guests and non-guests, to enjoy the sunset by the beach or pool to the sound of live music and performances.
During June, the bar will be open five days a week, and every day in July and August. The programme, called Aura, will feature themed nights: “Textures” on Fridays, “Nomadic Saturdays” and “Ethnic Sundays”. “Our brand focuses heavily on lifestyle, so we will always host special moments and parties with DJs and performers,” explains Henrique Pires, the hotel’s head of communications.
Another novelty for the summer, opening also in June, is Vino by Paper Moon, near the hotel’s Italian restaurant. The idea is to provide a wine experience with a menu developed by wine curator Miguel Martins, in a space offering a privileged view of the sea. “We will have a selection of the best wines and champagnes, which will be paired with the flavours of Italian cuisine.”
To complement the summer evenings, the hotel has introduced new gastronomic areas such as the Market Kitchen and the Wet Deck. Direct from Peru and in Portugal for the first time, Julio Ferradas was appointed the new executive chef at W Algarve in February.
“The menu focuses on local ingredients but also combines my Latin American and Caribbean influences with spicy Latin flavours, fresh ceviches and tiraditos,” says the chef. Highlights include the Algarve seafood cataplana and the well-known black truffle pizza. “I am very excited to showcase the flavours of my cuisine, as well as my version of Algarve specialities – dishes that I am so proud of,” he assures.
