Colourful reflections
Berlin-based artist Björn Heyn brings his distinctive, playful vision to the Algarve with a new residency with GAMA RAMA gallery, in collaboration with Estúdio Yucca, in Cabanas de Tavira.

Known for his use of vibrant colours and an intuitive, humorous approach to everyday life, Heyn’s work offers a fresh perspective on the world around us.

His exhibition, Ice Cream is Better than Maths!, invites visitors to appreciate life’s simple pleasures and contrasts them with the complexities of daily routine.

The German artist is the second to join GAMA RAMA’s artist residency programme. This innovative initiative, designed to enhance the region’s cultural landscape, follows the successful residency of artist David Schmitt (Tuyo) last year.

Located near the Ria Formosa, Estúdio Yucca provides an inspiring space for artists to connect with both nature and the local community.
Renowned for its dedication to contemporary art, the Faro gallery has expanded its focus to include international residencies.

“We’re very excited to continue this artist residency programme. We believe that the Algarve has a unique potential to become a culturally dynamic destination, and GAMA RAMA is playing an active part in making this vision a reality,” says Toma Švažaitė, co-founder of the gallery.
Ice Cream is Better than Maths! is on display at GAMA RAMA until August 23.
