The Black Badge Cullinan is the sportiest of the Rolls-Royce range, but the key word remains the same as ever: luxury

The introduction of the Black Badge models was (yet another) brilliant move by Rolls-Royce.

Aimed at those who want to get behind the wheel of their cars and enjoy the pleasure of driving a Rolls-Royce, the Black Badge cars have something more to offer in terms of dynamics and driver engagement.

At the invitation of Rolls-Royce, Essential Algarve had the opportunity to test drive the majestic Black Badge Cullinan, and we added a twist that made the experience even more unique: the photographer for this session was one of the biggest names in world photography – none other than Fernando Guerra, whose unique vision produced the fabulous images we see on these pages.

The story of the Cullinan has been one of enormous success and the British brand never doubted their customers would approve the concept. The Cullinan was able to create its own place within the Rolls-Royce range and, from the moment it was launched, it was immediately presented as the car for those who wanted to move from the back seat to the front and enjoy the magnificent V12 engine, which has always been as much a symbol of the Rolls as the Spirit of Ecstasy (the statuette that graces the bonnet of their cars).

The Black Badge Cullinan stands out from the standard versions with personalised aesthetic touches, wheels specific to this model and the infinity symbol in the interior, which make it easily identifiable, but the biggest differences are in the driving experience.

A sportier chassis set-up, more powerful brakes with an improved cooling system and a more immediate pedal response, together with the introduction of four-wheel steering and revised suspension geometry transform the driving experience, drawing on the sporty inclination of those sitting behind the wheel.

The ever-present sound of the engine is the icing on the cake.

Of course, the supreme concept of luxury must be present – and it very much is. The Black Badge Cullinan is a worthy representative of the Rolls-Royce lineage, expressing, as always, its own unique understanding of what it means to be the best car in the world.

According to Rolls-Royce, the average age of a Black Badge Cullinan buyer is lower than that of a Mini buyer. Incredible, but understandable: this is a Rolls-Royce aimed at a younger, more cosmopolitan audience who want to immerse themselves in the Rolls-Royce experience. One thing is certain: there is no other like it in the motoring world.
