New events, openings, menus and awards across the Algarve
Market Kitchen reopens at W Algarve
May marked the relaunch of W Algarve’s Market Kitchen. Bringing “the vibrant flavours of local markets straight to the table”, the new menu celebrates the best of the Algarve, with fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers and producers.
“Each dish is a reflection of our commitment to quality, sustainability and community, delivering the true taste of local in every bite,” said the hotel.
To enhance a memorable dinner inspired by Portuguese gastronomy, Market Kitchen also has live music on Tuesdays and Fridays, creating a unique atmosphere.
New menu at Atlântico restaurant
After a renovation, the Atlântico restaurant at Vila Vita Parc resort has a new gastronomic concept, inspired by Mediterranean cuisine with intense flavours from the Levant region, which includes countries such as Syria and Israel.
Under the theme “Waters of the Atlantic”, the menu highlights the connection between West and East, with a choice of tasting menu or à la carte.

Standout dishes include the Levantine Bonbons with herbs and guindilla peppers, crab Barbajuan with lemon sauce and veal tartare on brioche with trout roe and herb crème fraîche.
“More than a menu, we’ve created a narrative in which each dish tells a story of land, sea and tradition,” says chef João Sousa.
‘Suns’ shine on Algarve restaurants
Published in Portugal from 1989 to 2016, the Guia Repsol, Spain’s leading restaurant guide for over four decades, has made its return in an exclusively digital format.

Held in April, the Repsol Guide gala awards ceremony saw a total of 194 nationwide restaurants be recommended, 70 of which were awarded one, two and three Suns (the guide’s equivalent of the stars system).
In the Algarve, eight restaurants were recognised: Ocean (3 suns), Bon Bon (2 suns), Vista (2 suns), Vila Joya (2 suns), Al Sud (2 suns), Austa (1 sun), Gusto (1 sun), Henrique Leis (1 sun), Näperõn (1 sun) and Veneza (1 sun).
Chefs on Fire comes to Algarve for first time
Vilamoura Marina is set to host Chefs on Fire, Europe’s largest festival of fire, gastronomy, and music, between June 20 and 22.
Marking its first edition in the Algarve, the event will feature 12 top national chefs, who will ignite a firepit to create “exclusive and original dishes”.
Renowned Algarve chefs José Lopes (Bonbon), Louis Anjos (Al Sud), and Noélia Jerónimo (Noélia) are among the culinary stars headlining this edition.
Tickets cost €60 per person for each evening and include four tasting portions (meat, fish, vegetarian and dessert) and access to a live concert.
A special ticket and menu for vegetarians will also be available.
