Suzuki hit the jackpot with the new Jimny
The biggest surprise in the automobile market in 2018 was Suzuki’s Jimny.
Everyone knew the Japanese brand’s small 4×4 would be well received, but no one could imagine just how well. In the beginning of 2019, the Jimny was already sold out in several markets — a very nice problem for Suzuki to have fresh into the year. Starting at €21,500, there are only 400 units planned for the Iberian Peninsula this year.
With great design and an avant-garde look combined with revivalist traits, the Jimny has stolen hearts all over and taken Suzuki to corners of the market the brand had never seen. Despite being a pure 4×4, with the ability to rival a G-Class Mercedes and the Jeep Wrangler, and outdoing any SUV/crossover made for the city, the Jimny is also attracting the fashion-conscious thanks to its aesthetic appeal.
The inside is practical and designed for off-road use, easy to clean and without too much concern for premium materials that can be easily scratched or broken. The 1.5-litre, 102-horsepower engine meets the requirements. In addition to the five-speed manual gearbox, the Jimny also has an optional four-speed automatic transmission.
Charming and honest in its approach, the new Jimny is a revelation.
