New ‘Ria Formosa’ exhibition in Olhão

The New ‘Ria Formosa’ exhibition in Olhão with Algarve Tourism as promotor takes the place of a 30-year-old exhibition

The new exhibition in Olhão, inaugurated on February 2, entitled ‘Ria Formosa’ boasts several information panels and showcases an array of items used by local fishermen as well as shells collected from the estuary.

After a tour throughout the exhibition, visitors can also climb to the observation tower and have the opportunity to see the Ria Formosa in all its splendor.

This showcase replaces the previous exhibition which had been on display at the Centre of Environmental Education of Marim (CEAM) – the official headquarters of the Ria Formosa Natural Park – for 30 years.

Said the regional tourism board (RTA), the new version will allow visitors to learn about the estuary in an “educational and attractive” way.

The initiative was brought to life as part of the Valuetur project, backed by community funding via the POCTEP programme.
