This year, Lagoa celebrated yet another successful wine event, “one of the most emblematic in the south of Portugal”
The Lagoa Wine Show took place between June 7 and 10, bringing to the streets of Lagoa live musical performances with ‘Fado à Janela’, featuring singers in balconies, live entertainment, wine tastings and great local gastronomy with show-cooking demonstrations during which renowned Portuguese chefs prepared tasty dishes using local ingredients.
“The Lagoa Wine Show is one of the most emblematic wine shows in the south of Portugal, in which the most distinguished winemakers from several wine regions take part, with a special focus on Algarve wines,” said Lagoa’s council.
The musical line-up included Cape Verdean singer Lura, who “completely filled the streets of Lagoa with rhythms and sounds of African origin,” as well as Fado singers Ricardo Ribeiro, Pedro Moutinho, Gisela João and Luana Velásquez, along with Silvana Peres, Sara Gonçalves, Fado Vadio, Míriam Cantero, Luís Manhita, Rui Tanoeiro, Filipa Vieira, and Inês Gonçalves.
Several chefs also took part in the event, namely Nuno Martins (executive chef at Numa Restaurant in Portimão), Ricardo Luz (sous-chef at Al-Sud in Odiáxere), and chef Ricardo Sousa (chef at Golden Club Cabanas).
As the Algarve region becomes increasingly popular in the wine sector, the event celebrated the region’s national and international awards.
With over 6,000 wine tastings, this year’s Lagoa Wine Show shined brightly in the realm of wine events.
