The Loulé gallery showcases iconic photos, timeless beauty, and the depth of the acclaimed Belgian artist’s work
In the Pink Gallery, in Loulé, will open a new exhibition featuring works by Belgian photographer Marc Lagrange, from Antwerp. The exhibition brings together a selection of his work exploring longing, intimacy and the quiet strength of desire.
From October 16, the exhibition will officially open to the public, showcasing some of Lagrange’s most iconic works, in which detail becomes narrative and sensuality is conveyed with “refinement, restraint and emotional truth”.
Known for his distinctive use of light, texture and atmosphere, Lagrange creates photographs that explore fantasy and dreams, placing beauty at the centre of his visual universe.
He favours analogue photography over digital techniques, seeking a realistic feel rather than artificial effects. His large-scale Polaroids, exhibited around the world, are celebrated for their scale, presence and precision. They highlight the texture of the skin and give each image a vivid, tactile quality, bringing the composition together as a complete narrative. For the photographer, every detail matters when constructing a scene, helping to convey a specific emotion, from the colour of the walls to the shape of a chair.
Marc Lagrange’s acclaimed career as a photographer included the publication of several notable photobooks and monographs, such as Polarized (2009), Marc Lagrange XXML (2011), Diamonds and Pearls (2013), and the limited-edition Hotel Maritime – Room #58 (2014). His international recognition led to numerous prestigious exhibitions and collaborations across Europe and the United States.
