In honour of Patricia Moss, “the first driver to win a rally at the wheel of a Mini”, the new Mini is for anyone who loves to drive
The name Patricia Moss may not be instantly recognisable for a lot of car lovers, but Mini sought out to correct this with a special-edition, three-door John Cooper Works in honour of the woman who was, in absolute terms, the first driver to win a rally at the wheel of a Mini.
Sir Stirling Moss’ little sister won three international competitions and stood on the podium seven more times. Her most notable triumph came in the 1962 Tulip Rally, with Ann Wisdom as her co-pilot, where she beat 143 other drivers.
It was the springboard the British brand needed to get serious about this type of competition and, just two years later, Paddy Hopkirk won the world’s biggest rally, the Monte Carlo Rally; a victory the brand would repeat the following year and again in 1967.
The 2022 John Cooper Works Pat Moss Edition has some specific aesthetic details, namely the use of the tulip as a decorative element or Moss’ signature inside and outside the car, but in essence, it is an always-fabulous drive with a 231-horsepower, 2.0-litre engine coupled with an eight-speed automatic gearbox with a very high smile-per-mile ratio. It is perfect for anyone who loves to drive.
