Double bet in Lagos
Construction has already begun on the Lagos Marina Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, and the Hilton Garden Inn Lagos, both designed and projected by Broadway Malyan for the Mercan Properties Group.
The Hilton Garden Inn will total 90 rooms, including nine suites and 17 apartments/studios.
It will have a large roof terrace with a swimming pool and bar overlooking the surrounding landscape.
The new Lagos Marina Hotel, with 180 rooms, will feature an indoor pool, spa, restaurant and shaded outdoor space.
It will also include an outdoor lounge area with panoramic views over the Marina and the ocean.
Deserved recognition
Chitra Stern, CEO of the Martinhal Group (owners of Martinhal Sagres and Martinhal Quinta do Lago), has been honoured with the prestigious Medal of Merit for Tourism by the Portuguese Government with a silver medal.
This Medal of Merit recognises individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the tourism sector and economy in Portugal, acknowledging their dedication and impact on the development of the industry in Portugal.
“This medal represents not only a celebration of our past achievements and commitments but also a responsibility for the future. We continue to believe in Portugal and her potential,” she said.
Welcome back
With over a decade of experience in the hotel industry, Pedro Moreira is the new general manager of the Tivoli Carvoeiro Algarve Resort.
Moreira started his career in 2013 and his CV includes prominent names on the national and international scene, including Ritz Four Seasons, The Parisian (Macau), THE 13 (Macau) and Vila Vita Parc.
Between 2020 and 2023 he joined the Minor Hotels group and served as Director of Accommodation at the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura Algarve Resort, where he was recognised as ‘Best Accommodation Director in Portugal’ at the ADHP Xénios Awards. This new role marks Pedro Moreira’s return to Minor Hotels.
São Brás investment
São Brás de Alportel will be home to a new tourist resort on a 50-hectare site at the foot of the Serra do Caldeirão and on the slopes of the Ribeira do Alportel.
With a daily capacity for 909 guests, Herdade do Monte da Ribeira – Pêro de Amigos is estimated to cost around €50 million and the project will be one of the ten largest of its kind in the Algarve.
Facilities will include a hotel, an aparthotel, villas, green areas and farmland.
This project incorporates a sustainable perspective, with a strong focus on environmental preservation, water efficiency, energy management and habitat recovery.
