Abarth 595 Monster Energy Yamaha: The old-school way

There are few better ways to enjoy the last few years of petrol cars than behind the wheel of an Abarth

Unlike the Mini Cooper SE, the new Abarth 595 Monster Energy Yamaha could not be more old-school. After all, this is another limited edition Abarth 500 which, since 2008, has been improved and updated and whose different versions keep people’s interest in the model very much alive.

The latest version is one of the best, as it links to the Moto GP world in general and, more particularly, to the Monster Energy Yamaha team, where the Italian Valentino Rossi raced until the end of last season. Putting together the names Abarth and Rossi? A car does not get much more Italian than that.

The 595 Yamaha has 165 horsepower drawn from a lively little 1.4 turbo engine and a Record Monza exhaust system that ensures the driver will not go unnoticed anywhere. The colours of this 2,000-unit limited edition are Nero Scorpione and Azzurro Podio and the Monster Energy decals make this probably the only car on the road with its own sponsor.

The Abarth 595 is as passionate as ever and its niche market remains untouched. The future may look more like the Mini Cooper SE, but the past will have plenty of loud stories to tell.
