Claus Porto opened a shop in New York, the first outside of Portugal
Claus Porto products have been available in the United States for a long time, namely in New York City, where they can be found in prestigious department stores, such as Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. However, the positive response in this market led the brand’s managers to take the next step and open their first shop there.
The chosen location was the ground floor of a 19th-century building on Elizabeth Street, in the NoLIta neighbourhood. To bring the company’s historic milestone to life — its first international shop — the heads of the brand called on New York studio Tacklebox, specialising in retail design.
The result is surprising, to say the least: evoking Portuguese architecture, tradition and materials, translated into a contemporary, beautifully presented language, there are also references to Porto’s São Bento railway station, and the unique façade at Casa dos Bicos, in Lisbon. In this 50sqm space, New Yorkers can now purchase items from this special Portuguese brand of cosmetics and fragrances, founded in Porto over a century ago.
In the Algarve, Claus Porto’s products can be found at the V Life Store, in Vila Vita Parc’s new shopping plaza, in Porches.
