Celebrating 25 Years

At the event, charity president Wanda Crawford announced the launch of a new Higher Education Scholarship Fund and shared plans for a series of fundraising events throughout the year to continue supporting children and young people in education

ACCAKIDS Children’s Charity celebrated its 25th anniversary with a year of special fundraising events and the launch of a new Higher Education Scholarship Fund.

The celebrations kicked off at Authentic Restaurant on September 27 with a Gala, entertained by the famous Jersey Boys, complements of Authentic.

For 25 years, ACCAKIDS has dedicated itself to improving the lives of children and families through education, after school support, school supplies, eyeglasses, various therapies, dental care, economic support, and community-driven programmes and so much more.

One of the charity’s most cherished traditions is its annual Back-to-School Campaign, which supplies children and schools with essential learning materials.

Each year, generous supporters rally together to purchase backpacks, calculators, pens, books, pencils, and other classroom necessities. Among long-standing partners are, the Ladies from Quinta do Lago Golf Club and St Lukes church which have been key contributors – raising funds, shopping, and ensuring that thousands of children start the school year fully equipped and ready to learn.

This ongoing tradition has highlighted another important need: supporting students who have the academic ability and drive to succeed, but who lack the financial resources to pursue higher education,” said Wanda Crawford, president of ACCAKIDS.

In response, ACCAKIDS is proud to launch the ACCAKIDS Higher Education Scholarship Fund.

“This new initiative will provide financial assistance to young people seeking to continue their studies at colleges and universities. We will also support some children with learning a trade such as cosmetology or mechanics for those that are not college bound.”

“Over the years, we’ve witnessed the incredible impact that access to basic school supplies can have on a child’s confidence and success,” said Wanda Crawford.

“Now, with our Higher Education Scholarship, we’re taking the next step – helping young people turn their academic dreams into reality. Achieving an education is something that is theirs and no one can take it away from them.”

To mark this milestone anniversary, ACCAKIDS will host a series of fundraising events, inviting the community to celebrate 25 years of service whilst ensuring that the next generation has every opportunity to thrive.
