Algarve will host the second stage of next MotoGP World Championship in March 2024

It has now been confirmed that the world’s best motorcyclists will return to the Algarve, with organisers expecting a direct economic return of €78 million

Portimão’s Autódromo do Algarve has been chosen to host the MotoGP World Championship for the fifth time.

The return of the world’s best motorcyclists to the Algarve had already been announced in September but has only now been confirmed.

Next season’s Portuguese Grand Prix, the second stage of the World Championship, will be held on March 24, 2024.

According to Sic Notícias news channel, the organization will spend just over one and a half million euros for the event, with a direct economic return of €78 million.

The return of the main motorcycling event to Portugal is a source of great satisfaction for many, especially for Portuguese driver Miguel Oliveira.

The “Falcon”, as he is known, won the first Editions in took part in in 2020, and last year came fifth. In 2021 and this year, he gave up due to a fall. 2023 was a year of accidents for the Portuguese driver, who ended the season with a broken shoulder.

However, Oliveira is now focused on recovering to compete in the upcoming 2024 Championship.

He returns to training in February and will compete in the Championship’s first stage in Qatar on March 10, and two weeks later, will “play at home” in the Portuguese Grand Prix.
