Two future Hilton hotels already under construction near Lagos Marina, representing an investment of nearly €108 million
October 8 marked the start of the construction of the Lagos Marina Hotel, a tourist development just a stone’s throw away from the Lagos Marina.
The new development will comprise two hotels – the five-star Lagos Marina Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, with 189 rooms, and a four-star Hilton Garden Inn Lagos, with 90 rooms.
The two hotels are due to open in 2026, with the development representing a €107.8 million investment and expected to create 188 direct jobs.
Spanning across four floors and a total area of 14,776sqm, the Lagos Marina Hotel will feature a restaurant and two bars, one of which will be located on the terrace with an infinity pool, and a second pool will be placed on the ground floor, where “guests can relax after a day at the spa or the fitness facilities”.
The Hilton Garden Inn Lagos will feature 90 rooms, 27 of which will be suites with kitchenettes, within a total gross area of 7,505sqm. The hotel will also have a restaurant and a bar, and a 24-hour self-service shop, as well as a gym and an outdoor pool.
Both hotels will offer meeting spaces, as well as more than 160 parking spaces shared between them.
The group wishes to take full advantage of the Algarve’s unique solar exposure, “harmoniously integrating the property into the surrounding space, filled with lush gardens and incomparable views”.
Jordi Vilanova, president of the Mercan Properties Group shared in a statement to the press: “It is with great satisfaction that we witness the beginning of the construction of this ambitious project in Lagos, which once again clearly illustrates the commitment of the Mercan Properties Group to offer high-quality projects for our clients and, above all, for the regions where we invest, believing that they do justice to Portugal’s status as a world-class tourist destination.”
The group is also developing four other hotel projects in the Algarve. In Alvor, the Alvor Beach Hotel will be a sprawling five-star resort in the Torralta area, whilst Faro will welcome the Hotel Indigo Faro Ribeirinha. There is also the Marriot Lagos, to be built near the Porto de Mós beach, and the Hard Rock Hotel Algarve, a new luxury hotel featuring 275 rooms and suites and 150 apartments, near Portimão’s Vau beach.
Since 2015, the Canadian group has already invested over €1.2 billion in Portugal, divided amongst 32 tourism and hotels projects across the country.
