The historic town of Silves will once again be hosting the iconic Medieval fair for nine days
The famous yearly Silves Medieval Fair is almost here. This year, the nine-day event is running between August 9-17, creating an unforgettable ambience through the city’s centre.
Dress up in medieval attire, from princesses and queens to cavaliers and kings, and experience this amazing fair’s magical atmosphere with friends and family.
The theme for the 19th edition is ‘Xilb, City of Love and Disaffection’, and there will be plenty of festivities for everyone, as well as many local and international vendors, engaging music and vibrant dances that bring back memories of the region’s Middle Eastern connections.
Bringing visitors and vendors from all over the world, the fair is the biggest in the city and a true spectacle.
There will be hundreds of medieval stands with great food and original products, as well as enchanting musical performances and dance performances.
The fair will start every day at 6pm with a medieval procession, which will mark the beginning of the event’s mystical atmosphere, where participants will parade through the Medina and the suburbs.
The Al-Mut’amid Square will host the daily War Games at 8pm and 10.30pm, with a theatrical recreation of the confrontation of Yahyâ Ibn Bakr Ibn Zadlaf, an important figure in the al-Gharb al-Andalus, against the Umayyad army.
Silves Castle will also showcase Oriental Nights at 10.30pm with spectacular displays of music, dance and fire shows.
Tickets will be available through the Bol website soon, alongside the event’s calendar.
