Vila Vita Parc’s Restaurant to “dive deeper” into roots of Algarve Traditional Products

Vila Vita Parc in Porches will reopen its Atlântico restaurant on Saturday (May 29) with a promise to “dive even deeper” into the roots and traditions of the Algarve’s Gastronomy

Chef Pedro Pinto has prepared a menu with a number of delicious dishes inspired by the roots of the Algarve town’s gastronomy, from ‘Borrego no Tacho de Tavira’ (Tavira-style lamb), ‘Polvo de Santa Luzia’ (Santa Luzia octopus), and ‘Xerém com Halófitas da Ria Formosa’ (corn porridge with Ria Formosa halophytes), to ‘Cataplana da Raia Alhada de Olhão’ (Olhão rayfish cataplana stew), ‘Chícharos de Estoi’ (Estoi grass pea) and ‘Abóbora Queimada e Alcagoitas de Aljezur’ (roasted pumpkin with Aljezur peanuts).

There is also a tasting menu called “Roots with a Story” which allows guests “to explore more than one town in just one evening”.

“The Algarve’s gastronomic roots and traditional products, some of which have almost been forgotten, continue to be the stars of the chef’s creations highlighting the richness and diversity that exist in this geographically small region,” the resort says in a statement.

The restaurant is also expanding its vegetarian options and continues to favour 100% organic products from local producers.

Says the resort, “the restaurant’s elegant and sophisticated interior décor in shades of blue makes it seem like an extension of the ocean. It offers one of the best views of the resort’s subtropical gardens and infinity pool, across to the horizon, particularly from its terrace, the most sought-after area in the restaurant”.

Atlântico is open for breakfast between 8am and 11am and for dinner between 7pm and 10.30pm. It is one of Vila Vita Parc’s 11 restaurants that make up the “Culinary World” concept, offering a wide variety of gastronomic options based on the “farm to fork” philosophy.

Many of its organic products, including meat, come directly from the resort’s sister property in the Alentejo, Herdade dos Grous.
