The Algarve shines once again as a golf destination, with golf operators across the globe selecting the Vilamoura resort as their favourite for “outstanding customer service”
The International Association of Golf Travel Operators (IAGTO) awarded Dom Pedro Golf Vilamoura the “Golf Resort of the Year” award, the resort’s first recognition since DETAILS took over its management.
In total, 660 golf tour operators voted on the best golf courses, resorts, and destinations in the world, with several of Portugal’s most established golf resorts challenging the Algarve resort.
The award reinforces the “commitment” that Arrow Global’s hospitality, sports, and leisure management have demonstrated at the Dom Pedro Golf & Hotels Collection in Vilamoura since its acquisition last year.
As a result of the recent change in management, DETAILS has set its sights on establishing Dom Pedro Golf Vilamoura among the industry’s elite as “one of Europe’s finest leisure resorts”, with new and significant developments “currently in progress”, such as the Old Course, designed by Frank Pennink. The course is the second oldest in Portugal, and has already undergone significant changes in a bid to “attract premium golfers to the tee boxes of this esteemed golf destination”.
With multiple golf courses within a four-kilometer radius of each other, Dom Pedro Golf Vilamoura offers guests easy access to Victoria, Laguna, Millenium, and Pinhal courses. Currently, the Victoria golf course, which hosted the European Tour’s Portugal Masters between 2007 and 2022, is closed for renovations and will reopen in 2025.
“Dom Pedro Golf Vilamoura has always been a standout resort in a region blessed with more than its fair share of stunning venues. There are ambitious plans afoot, but we recognised that the resort is already in the top drawer when it comes to sophisticated, 360 facilities and hospitality,” said Peter Walton, CEO of the International Association of Golf Travel Operators.
The Co-Chief Executive Officer of DETAILS, Nuno Sepulveda, also expressed his appreciation, sharing that he is “immensely proud” of his team’s “dedication and commitment”, which culminated in the recent win of the prestigious IAGTO Golf Resort of the Year award.
“This accolade underscores our pursuit of excellence in delivering unparalleled experiences to our guests. We want to elevate this resort to new heights and solidify our position as a leading destination in the world of golf and hospitality,” said Nuno Sepulveda.
The Dom Pedro portfolio also includes the Dom Pedro Portobelo, Dom Pedro Marina, and Dom Pedro Vilamoura hotels, as well as the golf courses of Pinhal, Laguna, and Millenium, all managed by DETAILS.
The company shared that “many more developments are planned, all to be announced in due course” over the next two years.
