Quinta da Plansel brings internationally recognised wine qualifications to the Algarve, with Level 1 and Level 2 courses for wine lovers and professionals

Quinta da Plansel, based in Montermor-o-Novo, in Évora, is bringing internationally recognised wine qualifications to the Algarve this November, with English-taught courses for hospitality professionals and wine lovers interested in learning more about this world.

Through its International Wine School, Quinta do Plansel will offer two Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) courses at Vila Vita Parc, in Porches, from November 12 to 15. WSET is the world’s leading provider of drinks qualifications. Established in 1969 to serve the UK wine trade, it has since grown to become the global industry leader in wine and spirits education.

The Level 1 course, priced at €275 per person, will take place on November 12. Designed for beginners, it covers the fundamentals of wine, including the main wine styles, service, storage and food pairing. No previous knowledge is required. Click here to register for the Level 1 course.

The Level 2 course, priced at €700 per person, runs from November 13 to 15. It will explore grape varieties, wine regions, production methods and how these shape the style and character of a wine. Click here to register for the Level 2 course.

Both courses will be taught in English by Pedro Ramos, a sommelier with experience spanning wine production, wine service and marketing. The courses will combine theory and practice, with guided tastings designed to develop participants’ sensory skills. Those who complete the courses will receive an internationally recognised WSET qualification.

Explaining the decision to bring the courses to the Algarve, Dorina Lindemann, CEO of Quinta da Plansel, said: “The courses combine knowledge and tasting, allowing participants to develop a more informed relationship with wine and to discover aromas, flavours and styles that might otherwise go unnoticed. We chose the Algarve not only for its strong community of wine lovers, but also because we believe that understanding wine gives people more confidence to explore and make their own choices. Getting to know different grape varieties and their characteristics encourages us to step beyond our usual picks and find wines that truly suit our taste and every occasion.”
