A year of exhibitions celebrating continuity, innovation and artistic excellence

This year marks the 15th anniversary of Loulé’s ArtCatto Gallery. After 15 years, the team is proud of what it has achieved and is even more focused on strengthening its position, continuing to invest in meaningful experiences for artists, clients and visitors.

The gallery intends to remain faithful to the vision and values it has held since its inception, namely a commitment to artistic excellence, solid relationships and high-quality exhibitions. It will be “a continuation of the growth and success of the gallery”, emphasises owner and founder Gillian Catto.

In addition to the usual premium exhibitions featuring renowned national and international artists represented by the gallery, the public can also expect new names, who will bring fresh perspectives and emotions.

The aim is to find a careful balance between “continuity and innovation”, showcasing the work of both established artists and emerging figures, “ensuring that every visit is engaging, inspiring, and reflective of the quality and vision that define ArtCatto”, explains the gallery’s director, Frederic Da Ponte.

This Easter, the gallery will welcome new pieces by Erika ToliusisAnnalù Boeretto and Darryn Eggleton, joining the works of painter Michael F. Rumsby

This is a creative, bold and challenging way to mark a decade and a half of “constant growth and dedication that have shaped” the team’s work, says says Frederic Da Ponte. Throughout the year, ArtCatto will also feature the “exceptional talent and vision” of Portuguese artists Pedro Guimarães, Mario Henrique and Rogério Timóteo, as well as international names such as Tommaso Ottieri and Jisbar.

The gallery team is excited and proud to present these new exhibitions, which are meticulously prepared to highlight each artist’s unique energy and creative vision. “We eagerly anticipate the reactions and engagement of our public.

We celebrate the diversity and passion of each presentation, knowing that each one offers a special experience for our visitors,” says the gallery director. Artists are selected for their “unique talent and loyalty, but also for their ability to work well with ArtCatto”, reveals Gillian Catto. “We want the experience to be a happy one for all involved.”

“I have been in the art gallery business for 40 years,” says Gillian Catto. “I have had an amazing life in art – the opportunity to spend time with artists, follow their work, develop relationships with clients and, of course, having the best team to help me.”

With such a long career, the gallery’s founder admits that it is difficult to pick just one memorable moment. “I can’t possibly answer that question. Still, working with the Indian and Chinese government to bring their culture to Portugal [through art] was an adventure,” she admits. Although each year and each artist is different, the main challenge remains “finding remarkable artists to add to ArtCatto’s list of top artists”, she acknowledges.

Mindful of the constant evolution of the market, the gallery keeps an eye on new trends and perspectives, believing it is essential to explore new paths and collaborate with different artistic genres.

True to its identity and essence, the gallery remains open to the development of new projects and collaborations, always on the lookout for significant new prospects. “We are always brainstorming new opportunities,” says Gillian Catto.

However, any expansion is carefully considered, assessing how it fits into the gallery’s vision and programme, as well as its interest to the public. The goal is to deliver “cohesive, impactful exhibitions and deepen engagement with artists and audiences”, says Frederic Da Ponte.

ArtCatto’s next project will also be in Portugal and, subsequently, there are also plans to go abroad. “Our aim is to consolidate the brand and build upon the work we have carefully developed, ensuring that this progress happens as a natural, thoughtful process,” explains the gallery director.

At the same time, ArtCatto will continue to present a diverse selection of artists in a premium environment, both in the gallery space and at the Conrad Algarve hotel, where it regularly welcomes national and international collectors.

The gallery space at the Vila Vita Parc resort in Porches will also remain open throughout the year, with activities, events and exhibitions of new works reaching a diverse international audience in a dynamic and accessible environment.

The 15th anniversary of ArtCatto Gallery will be celebrated with a special party in September
