A guide to February and March events, with concerts, festivals and outdoor experiences worth planning ahead
Jonathan Dassin Sings Joe Dassin
The show “Jonathan Sings Joe Dassin” takes to the stage at Faro’s Teatro das Figuras, on February 21, with Jonathan Dassin at the heart of a personal and musical tribute to his father’s legacy.

A globally recognised artist with more than 50 million records sold, Joe Dassin is part of France’s musical heritage, noted for blending chanson with touches of American folk. Now an author, composer and performer in his own right, Jonathan invites audiences to revisit his father’s timeless hits in a concert lasting over an hour.
Songs such as L’été Indien, Et Si Tu N’existais Pas and Champs-Élysées feature in this special evening, celebrating a musical legacy that continues to span generations. Tickets start at €40.
Portimão hosts DDP’26 percussion music festival
Dias da Percussão Portimão (DPP’26) is set to return under the artistic direction of Daniela Tomaz and Vasco Ramalho for its 5th edition.

From February 13 to 15, TEMPO (Portimão Municipal Theatre) will host an international line-up of percussionists, including Polish musician Kasia Kadłubowska, alongside leading Portuguese performers with national and international profiles.
Highlights include Drumming – Grupo de Percussão, founded in 1999 by Miquel Bernat; Tiago Manuel Soares, known for his work in Portuguese traditional percussion; and the duo Hugo Ferreira and Gonçalo Ribeiro, curated by Associação Porta Jazz.

The programme features a jam session and three concerts with a diverse range of repertoires. Tickets for the concerts start at €15.
Almond Blossom Festival
February marks the return of the Almond Blossom Festival to Alta Mora, in Castro Marim, celebrating one of the region’s most distinctive winter landscapes.
Running from February 20 to 22, the festival invites visitors to experience the almond blossom season at its peak, with hiking at its core. Four marked walking routes of six, nine, 12 and 20 kilometres cater to different fitness levels (online registration required).
The programme also includes folk, traditional and world music, ethnographic performances, street entertainment and family-friendly activities. Highlights range from a street market and craft workshops to the unveiling of a giant traditional almond roll cake. Tickets start at €2.50, with free entry for children under 10.
Sol de Inverno Festival
Festival Sol de Inverno (meaning Winter Sun) returns to Tavira in February and March, reaffirming its mission to prove that the Algarve’s cultural life continues well beyond the summer months.
Held at Jardim do Sapal, the event combines live music, local creativity and outdoor living in a relaxed, community-focused setting.

On February 21, the programme features Nameless and the Chicken Nuggets, alongside a live set by Rádio Horizonte with DJ Feders. The season closes on March 21 with performances by Riki & Izzy, Beira-Mar Band and Banda Atlântica, followed by a sunset party with Marie Mon Amour. Visitors can also enjoy a local market, street food, workshops, children’s activities and spaces dedicated to sports and animal welfare, all running from late morning until sunset.
