The Museum of Portimão will be showing the winning photographs of the 22nd Corrida Fotográfica de Portimão (Photography Race) until April 23
Just like every year, photographers of all skill levels had the chance to try to find new ways of capturing the beauty of Portimão, Mexilhoeira Grande and Alvor, this time with the return of the real-life contest, after the covid-19 restrictions.
This year, 131 photography lovers took part in the race, coming from the Algarve, Portugal and even 10 other countries.
The race was divided into two categories: in-person and online. For the in-person contest, participants had to capture three photographs through their creative lenses, integrated with eight different themes proposed by the organisers of the race, from cultural and natural heritage, lifestyle, people and Portimão’s ambiences.
For the online race, photography lovers had to submit 12 photographs of any location, under the theme “LIFE”, having in mind four topics: The Uncertainty of Life; Resistance, Resilience and Survival; A Fragile Heritage; “Is this that makes me happy?”
Along with the prizes of each category, there will also be two special prize winners from the Jury and Youth Prizes.
The exhibition is open to the public Tuesdays from 2.30pm to 6pm, and from Wednesdays to Sundays from 10am to 6pm.
