The Oriole Village at the eco-friendly resort was recognised by the European Property Awards
Ombria Resort’s Oriole Village has been crowned a five-star award winner for “Best Residential Development 20 units+” at the 29th edition of the European Property Awards 2022/2023, one of the most prestigious and widely recognised international property awards.
Featuring an independent judging panel of over 80 industry experts who analyse each entry and rate them based on the project’s design, quality, service, originality, and commitment to sustainability, the coveted 5-star title is the highest level of the award at the regional level.
Scheduled to open in summer of 2025, properties at Oriole Village are intended to break down boundaries between outdoor and indoor living once they express and complement the surrounding natural beauty to maintain the traditional essence of the Algarve.
The investment and lifestyle potential of Oriole Village have recently also been highlighted in The Times and in Country Life magazine.
Hand in Hand with Nature (and Cork)
“Ombria Resort is committed to a mission of sustainability and protection of nature, moved by values such as economic, environmental and social responsibility, in order to implement an exceptional development which is in harmony with its natural surroundings and local communities of the Algarve Barrocal,” said the resort.
The resort’s construction is using Diathonite Thermactive, an insulating plaster created by Diasen, which is “recognised for the quality of its ecological, natural and 100% safe products created using elements such as Portuguese cork and hydraulic lime for maximum thermal comfort and safety.”
As the resort points out, Portugal is known for being the main cork producer in the world. The country accounts for 50% of the world’s production and 60% of exports.
For Golf lovers, Ombria’s golf course is scheduled to open in the spring of 2023 under a newly appointed Director of Golf to offer guests the best golf experience
Salvador Costa Macedo, who joined Ombria last November, has been appointed Director of Golf at the Ombria Resort in Loulé and hopes to “help make the golf course a reference in the region”.
With around 20 years of professional experience in the golf sector in Portugal under his belt, Macedo holds a degree in Business Management from Lusíada University, and postgraduate degrees in Golf Course Management (University of the Algarve), Golf (Faculdade de Motricidade Humana) and a specialisation in Hospitality Management from the Association of Hotel Directors of Portugal (ADHP).
“Ombria Resort is a unique project and, together with the entire team, we believe that the new course will be very well received by all who visit us,” he said.
Salvador Costa Macedo has held positions in different companies and entities such as the Portuguese Golf Federation, the National Training Centre at Jamor, Quinta do Peru Golf & Country Club and Penina Hotel & Golf Resort, as Director of Golf. Recently, he held the position of Sales Golf Manager at Palmares Ocean Living & Golf and Amendoeira Golf in the Algarve.
“Golfers will not want to miss the opportunity to test their skills while enjoying the incredible landscape and surrounding nature,” he added.
Ombria is located in a tranquil inland location, surrounded by nature and in touch with the ‘Authentic Algarve’, yet close to the beach and airport.
