A look at the latest developments in Algarve golf, luxury real estate and plans for a new business hub
Azuya takes shape
A new luxury residential development is taking shape between Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo.
Azuya brings together two serviced residential projects, Azuya Seed and Azuya Salt, close to Ancão Beach and the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Developed by From:, part of Arrow Global, Azuya Seed will comprise 21 apartments designed by architect João Tiago Aguiar, with residences ranging from 117m² to 318m².
The development will offer services including a spa, concierge and rental management, with completion scheduled for 2028. According to recent reports, From: is investing €62.3 million in Azuya Seed, following the acquisition of the project from Vanguard Properties.
Ready for the future
Monte Rei’s North Course in Vila Nova de Cacela has reopened following an extensive renovation project designed to prepare the course for the decades ahead whilst preserving Jack Nicklaus’s original design.
Developed in collaboration with Nicklaus Design, the work covered greens and bunkers, expanded tee areas, landscaping, buggy paths, and practice facilities, where new technology was also introduced.
The irrigation system and pumping station were also upgraded, with particular attention paid to water efficiency and adapting to the Algarve’s conditions.

Opened in 2007, the 18-hole, par-72 course stretches between the hills and the Atlantic.
New ground for investment
The Algarve could gain a major new business area as part of government plans to attract large-scale national and international investment.
Economy and Territorial Cohesion Minister Manuel Castro Almeida said the original plan for six large business areas across Portugal could be expanded to seven, with an additional site in the Algarve.
The planned business areas elsewhere in the country will cover between 3 and 8km² and are intended to provide serviced sites capable of attracting major investors.
An Algarve site could target sectors including industry, technology, and the ocean economy, helping to diversify the regional economy and create highly qualified jobs.
