Vila Vita Christmas Market

What to see and do this festive season in the Algarve

Vila Vita Christmas Market

Porche’s Vila Vita Parc will host a festive shopping event at the resort’s Piazetta from December 19 to 21, beginning at 2pm each day.

Visitors will be able to browse a selection of well-known brands at the V Life Shops, whilst enjoying traditional Christmas staples, including Glühwein and seasonal teas. The event will also feature family-friendly entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Designed to bring the community together in a relaxed setting, the gathering combines local craftsmanship, seasonal flavours and the spirit of the holidays in the heart of the Algarve.

Conrad Algarve’s Night at the Palace

Conrad Algarve in Quinta do Lago is bringing back its luxurious Night at the Palace celebrations, offering a festive line-up of fine dining and entertainment from Christmas through New Year’s.

Guests can enjoy elegant Christmas Eve and Day menus at Gusto by Heinz Beck or The Nest, complete with champagne, live music, and family-style dining. On New Year’s Eve, celebrations peak with Gusto’s eight-course gala dinner and the grand Night at the Palace ballroom party featuring live cooking stations, fine wines, and fireworks.

The festivities conclude with a lavish New Year’s Day brunch at The Nest.

W Algarve holiday celebrations

W Algarve is set to celebrate the festive season in style, with a week of special events running from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day.

Highlights include festive dinners at Market Kitchen and Paper Moon, sushi and mixology masterclasses, pizza and cataplana workshops, and a DJ Academy for beginners.

On New Year’s Eve, guests can enjoy “The Last of 2025” dinners across the hotel’s restaurants, followed by the glamorous House of Style parties featuring live music, champagne, and late-night pizza.

The celebrations conclude on January 1 with a relaxed “Start It with Brunch” at Paper Moon.

Lagos

The municipality of Lagos is filled with colour, lights and festive cheer until January. Alongside the Christmas spirit, creativity comes to life in scenes and events that make dreams come true.

Praça Infante Dom Henrique is transformed into a true Christmas Village, complete with Santa’s House and seasonal performances. For those who enjoy local and seasonal products, there are plenty of options at the Christmas Market, and for anyone keen to capture a family photo, there are dedicated photo spots.

Visitors can also enjoy attractions such as the ice rink and carousel, as well as entertainment including roaming performers, craft workshops, storytelling sessions, and the traditional animated nativity display by José Cortes.

Monchique

Monchique Municipal Council is promoting the Monchique Natal event, which brings various activities to Largo dos Chorões and the surrounding area to celebrate the Christmas spirit.

Until January, the council invites everyone to enjoy time with their families, promoting sharing and togetherness.

In addition to the Christmas market (December 12-21), there is a carousel and entertainment for the little ones and social areas for everyone. The concerts are complemented by plays and workshops on various themes in a space that caters to all tastes, with exhibitions of crafts, gastronomy and local products.

Castro Marim

Castro Marim has unveiled its famous Salt and Arts Nativity Scene at Casa do Sal, to mark the festive season. Built from the town’s ‘white gold’ and adorned with artisan-made decorations, it features tons of salt and hundreds of figures that draw residents and visitors each year.

This edition’s highlight is a cane-woven Nativity set by Martinho Fernandes and Paula Gaspar, alongside palm weaving works by Albina Sequeira, Maria Fernanda Fernandes, Sebastião Sequeira and Diamantino Romeira.

The exhibition, celebrating the town’s cultural bond with salt and local craftsmanship, runs at Casa do Sal until January 6, and is open daily from 9am–1pm and 2.30pm–5.30pm.

Vila Real de Santo António

The historic town centre of Vila Real de Santo António has once again been transformed into a place filled with magic, charm and Christmas spirit with the arrival of Vila Natal.

The event, which runs until January, aims to boost local trade, attract visitors and strengthen the municipality’s tourism, offering a wide entertainment programme for all ages.

One of Vila Natal’s main attractions is the large ice rink in the heart of Praça Marquês de Pombal, set to be an unmissable stop for families and friends.

A traditional Christmas market enhances the festive atmosphere with crafts, regional delicacies and unique gift ideas. Concerts, fun performances, sporting activities and gastronomic showcases also form part of the festive calendar.
