New shows in Faro and São Brás de Alportel highlight local and international artists this season
The Space Between Us
The Galeria Nova at the Museu do Traje in São Brás de Alportel will host the exhibition The Space Between Us – O Espaço entre Nós from April 11 to May 18, featuring works by German artist Markus Böhler and Swiss artist Gaby Studer.

Markus Boehler, Collage, No 95
The show presents 100 of Böhler’s analogue collages alongside Studer’s contemporary paper-cut works, exploring identity, materiality and diverse artistic languages.
The exhibition’s name reflects not only the gaps and spaces within the paper but also the creative dialogue between the two artists, who have found their second home in the eastern Algarve.
Faro Museum unveils major Portuguese exhibition
Faro Municipal Museum is hosting a major exhibition until September 20, showcasing Portuguese art from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Featuring around 70 works from the private collections of Miguel Duarte and Hugo Batalha, the exhibition spans Naturalism, Modernism and Surrealism, including pieces rarely or never before seen publicly.
Curated by Raquel Henriques da Silva as part of the museum’s 132nd anniversary, the show highlights the vision of two Algarve collectors and is being hailed as one of Portugal’s most significant museum events of 2026.
GAMA RAMA opens new premises
A new cultural space has opened in Faro with the inauguration of the group exhibition Seasonal Fruit, on view until June 20 at GAMA RAMA’s new venue on Rua do Prior. The exhibition brings together artists who have been part of the gallery project over the past five years, reflecting the evolution of an artistic community through a selection of works and ongoing creative processes.
The show also marks the opening of GAMA RAMA’s expanded facilities in a former soft drinks factory in the city centre, now transformed into a contemporary creative hub with studios, workshops and spaces dedicated to artistic production and cultural programming.
