F1, Volta ao Algarve and PT Tour events ahead
F1 returns to Algarve in 2027 and 2028
Formula 1 is officially returning to Portugal, with races confirmed for the 2027 and 2028 seasons at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimão.
According to Turismo de Portugal and Turismo do Algarve, Portugal’s presence on the Formula 1 calendar reflects “a renewed international vote of confidence in the country’s organisational capacity and in the technical excellence of the Algarve International Circuit, widely recognised by drivers and teams as one of the most challenging and exciting modern tracks for Formula 1”.
The Algarve circuit previously hosted two races in 2020 and 2021, with tourism authorities anticipating that both the economic impact and media return this time will “significantly exceed the figures recorded during the pandemic years”.
Algarve Tour
The world’s cycling elite is returning to the Algarve for the 2026 Volta ao Algarve from February 18 to 22, starting in Vila Real de Santo António and finishing at the iconic Alto do Malhão, in Loulé.

With five action-packed stages, the 52nd edition, broadcast live on Eurosport and RTP, attracts leading names in world cycling and showcases the Algarve’s landscapes and demanding routes.
Beyond its sporting weight, the race generates a global economic impact worth millions of euros, reaching a record €36.5 million last year, with 25 teams competing, including 13 WorldTeams.

Algarve hosts eight PT Tour 2026 golf tournaments
The Algarve is hosting eight of the 10 tournaments on the PT Tour 2026. The competition has a purse total of €105,000 in prize money and further strengthens the region’s position as a leading European winter golf destination.
