A new five-star resort in Salgados, a future Conrad development and increased airport capacity signal a busy period ahead
New luxury resort opens in Salgados
The Wine & Books by the Sea, Algarve Resort has opened in the Salgados Natural Reserve, in Albufeira, following a €12 million investment by the PBH Group.
The new five-star property features 250 rooms across several accommodation types, as well as a spa, swimming pools, wellness areas and event spaces.
Part of the Wine & Books Hotels brand, the resort offers an experience that combines hospitality with Portuguese culture, gastronomy and national wines, whilst presenting five distinct dining concepts ranging from Mediterranean to Asian cuisine.

Conrad Meia Praia Algarve set for 2027 opening
Hilton has unveiled plans for the development of Conrad Meia Praia Algarve, a luxury beachfront resort set to open in spring 2027.
Located along the pristine Meia Praia beach near Lagos, the new resort will also include 21 branded residences.

Set to feature 116 rooms and suites, offering sweeping sea views and private pools, resort amenities will include two signature restaurants, a contemporary beach club, bars, indoor and outdoor pools, a Conrad spa, a modern fitness centre, and a versatile event space.
Busy summer for Faro Airport
Faro Airport is preparing for a busy summer, with overall capacity set to rise by 4% and more than 632,000 additional seats compared to last year.
New routes and airlines will strengthen connections, particularly from the United Kingdom, Poland and Spain.
Among the new services are flights linking Faro to London Luton, Cardiff, Newcastle and Reykjavik, whilst direct connections to North America will continue during the peak season. Despite reductions in some markets, including Germany, tourism officials say the overall outlook for Algarve air connectivity remains strong.
