The element of surprise is part of the long-awaited event that is expected to attract thousands to the city streets
Loulés White Night party will be held on Saturday, August 26, and is described as the ”official farewell to summer” in the Algarve.
This year’s event promises “glamour, elegance, relaxation, celebration, joy, socialising, exuberance, and harmony”, to bring “thousands of people to the heart of Loulé to enjoy a surprising programme of cultural and artistic entertainment”.
The White Night is held every two years and aims to provide visitors with a “full urban experience”. To achieve this, the town’s streets transform into “a large living room, with pouffes and tables set up in areas where cars usually circulate”, according to the council.
The entertainment zones and stages will be set up along a 125,000 sqm area stretching from Largo de S. Francisco to the second plaque of Avenida José da Costa Mealha, from the castle wall to the Engº Duarte Pacheco monument.
According to the council, the White Night party is a “pioneering” event, held for the first time in 2007 to mark the end of the Algarve’s summer entertainment.
Local businesses and restaurants will also stay open through the night with special decorations and prices, whilst bars will be setting up shop along the town’s streets to serve special cocktails and other beverages.
As the event’s name suggests, street decorations will be “entirely white”, and the colourful cloths near the Municipal Market, a hallmark of the MED Festival, will be replaced with white cloths.
