Sprint Challenge Southern Europe opens the 2026 season in Portimão

The sound of revving Porsche engines returns to the Algarve this weekend as the Algarve International Racetrack hosts the opening round of the 2026 Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe.

Following on from the GT Winter Series, the Portimão circuit is back with the one-make championship dedicated exclusively to Porsche models launching its new season, this Sunday, January 25.

The programme includes four races, all scheduled for Sunday afternoon, offering plenty of on-track action across the circuit’s demanding 15 bends. Fans will be able to see up close what is “widely considered the world’s most popular and widely used racing car”, the Algarve racetrack says in a statement to the press, in an event designed to appeal to both Porsche enthusiasts and motorsport fans.

Spectators will also have access to the paddock, providing a rare opportunity to see the cars and drivers at close range and experience the atmosphere behind the scenes.

Schedule

1.25pm – 2pm | Race 1 Sport Division

2.30pm – 3.05pm | Race 1 Club Division

3.35pm – 4.10pm | Race 2 Sport Division

4.40pm – 5.15pm | Race 2 Club Division

Tickets for the opening round cost €10 and are available via the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve website and at the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve shop. Racing begins at 1.25pm.
