Vale do Lobo ‘ESG Engaged’ 2

The luxury resort received the ESG Engaged seal granted by Turismo de Portugal

Vale do Lobo has been awarded the ESG Engaged seal by the national tourism authority, Turismo de Portugal, recognising the resort’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible management.

Granted in December 2025, the seal highlights Vale do Lobo’s efforts to reduce environmental impact and integrate sustainable practices into its daily operations.

Spanning around 450 hectares and including a two-kilometre stretch of beachfront, protecting the natural surroundings has long been a priority for the Vale do Lobo.

Recent initiatives include a 20% reduction in water consumption across the resort’s two golf courses in 2024 and a 37% decrease in fossil fuel use. Additional measures include water savings in landscaped public areas through smart irrigation systems, helping to reduce consumption during peak periods, alongside the use of solar energy, the introduction of electric vehicles and charging points, and improved waste management. More than 99% of waste is now diverted from landfill through recycling, composting and energy recovery.

“We are incredibly proud to have been awarded the ESG Engaged seal. This recognition validates our consistent work in the area of sustainability,” said Alda Filipe, partner at Kronos Homes and board member at Vale do Lobo. “We are focused on preserving Vale do Lobo’s identity whilst ensuring responsible development that respects the community and the local environment.”

The resort’s real estate projects also follow these sustainability principles, with new developments aligned with internationally recognised environmental building standards, including the recently launched Residences Vale do Lobo.

The ESG Engaged seal marks an important milestone as Vale do Lobo continues to balance growth with long-term environmental and community responsibility.
