The new two-day event brings Áurea, Júlio Resende and the Algarve Jazz Orchestra to Olhão on July 24 and 25

Olhão’s waterfront will be the setting for a new summer music programme as the first edition of Olhão South Jazz takes place beside the Ria Formosa on July 24 and 25.

Held at Parque Ribeirinho Poente, the event brings together jazz, soul and contemporary Portuguese music, with open-air performances running from sunset into the evening, with doors opening at 6pm and running until midnight.

Singer Áurea and pianist Júlio Resende are among the leading names announced for the inaugural edition, which will feature six musical projects across the festival’s Main Stage and Cantaloupe Stage.

The programme will feature singer Áurea, the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve with Raul Reyes and Osvaldo Pegudo and Cátia Ribeiro Trio on July 24, and Vânia Fernandes & Júlio Resende 4Teto “My Favorite Songs”, Sara Badalo Jazz Quintet and Susana Travassos Trio on July 25.

Olhão South Jazz will make the most of its waterfront location, allowing audiences to enjoy live music against the natural landscape of the Ria Formosa. At sunset, performances will pause for a shared moment overlooking the scenery.

Beyond the two stages, the festival grounds will include food stalls, bars and a VIP space. Visitors will also be able to explore the Ria Market, which will showcase regional crafts, independent brands and creative projects from across the Algarve.

Daily tickets cost €10 for adults and €8 for visitors aged between 12 and 16. Two-day passes cost €15 for adults and €14 for those aged between 12 and 16.
