Experience a distinctive dining experience, combining the luxury and sophistication of Conrad Algarve with outstanding Japanese cuisine
Last year, guests at the Conrad Algarve were surprised, in peak season, with one of the cabanas at the Serenity Infinity Pool serving WELL Vale do Lobo’s signature sushi.
The unique experience of savouring Japanese food by the pool was such a success that the hotel decided it had to be available all year round and to everyone, not just guests.
With this in mind, the two parties joined forces to open the latest restaurant at the resort in Quinta do Lago in April: Mizuumi Sushi Lounge by WELL.
In an elegant and contemporary setting, diners can enjoy a variety of dishes prepared by chef Tiago Torres using top-quality, fresh ingredients, most of which are Portuguese – including shellfish from the Ria Formosa.
The new restaurant promises a distinctive dining experience, combining the luxury and sophistication of the hotel with outstanding Japanese cuisine and premium drinks.
Tuna tataki; coastal prawn, cockle or oyster gunkans; and horse mackerel, sardine or mackerel nigiris are some of the unusual dishes highlighted by Sérgio Hernandez Viegas, managing partner of WELL.
“We wanted to introduce national and Algarvian produce to sushi. So, we adapted concepts and presented two options: traditional sushi and some irreverent pieces,” he says.
Another of the brand’s top draws is the unique starters, all made and prepared in the open kitchen and in front of the customers.
During winter, the restaurant will only have indoor seating for around 35 people, but in high season, Mizuumi will take over the terrace, which can seat up to 80 diners.
“The goal is for guests to enjoy one of the resort’s most spectacular areas, the Lago Terrace, overlooking our Infinity Pool, which at night lights up with the torches around it. Then we have the Algarve hills as a backdrop.
The idea is for people to have a Japanese experience in a space that is very calm and relaxed, but also vibrant,” says Ricardo Afonso, Marketing & Communications Manager at Conrad Algarve.
Mizuumi Sushi Louge by WELL is open from 12pm to 10pm.
