The French champagne brand brings effervescence to the Algarve’s coveted resort with its special summer cuvée, Veuve Clicquot Rich, served over ice
What pairs better with a heatwave than an ice-cold glass of champagne, a sea breeze in your hair and sand between your toes? This summer, Maison Veuve Clicquot returns to Portugal with its exclusive Sun Club, taking over the iconic Well Beach Club in Vale do Lobo – a sun-drenched hideaway where the art de vivre à la Clicquot feels perfectly at home.

Front and centre are the season’s showstoppers: Veuve Clicquot Rich and Veuve Clicquot Rich Rosé, two exuberant cuvées created to be served over ice. Designed for long, languid days, they bring freshness, lightness, and just the right amount of sparkle – fruity, elegant, and wonderfully refreshing – and are made for celebrating sun-soaked afternoons and golden evenings by the water.
With sweeping views over Vale do Lobo beach and a bright, contemporary setting awash in light and the brand’s iconic vibrant orange-yellow hue, the Sun Club feels tailor-made for chic summer rituals.
Open from 9am to 8pm throughout July and August (7pm in September; 6pm in October), it’s the sort of place where late breakfasts melt into leisurely lunches and afternoon lounging effortlessly turns into champagne o’clock.

On the menu, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Rich is €170, whilst Veuve Clicquot Rich Rosé comes in at €175 – ideal for sharing over ice buckets and sea views. Adding to the holiday mood, the Sun Club turns up the tempo with daily entertainment all summer long: think DJ sets soundtracking the sunset, live saxophone or violin drifting across the terrace, and dancers and other performances keeping the atmosphere as effervescent as the bubbles in your glass.
More than a pop-up, the Sun Club cements Veuve Clicquot’s lifestyle credentials and its unmistakable joie de vivre in the Algarve. Open at Well Beach Club in Vale do Lobo until the end of October, it extends the season in true Clicquot style – a long, luxurious toast to summer, sunshine and champagne on the shore.
