The event brings together several chefs recognised by the Michelin Guide from September 4 to 8 for dinners inspired by the Atlantic, fire, the Mediterranean and the Algarve

Vilalara Grand Hotel Algarve is marking its 60th anniversary with Setembro Gastronómico, a series of four collaborative dinners taking place across the Porches resort from September 4 to 8.

Bringing together Vilalara’s resident chefs with João Viegas of Mesa Farta, Alexandre Silva of LOCO and Fogo, Stefano Bulla of Gusto by Heinz Beck and Louis Anjos of Verdelago Resort, each evening explores a different culinary theme shaped by local produce and contrasting traditions.

João Viegas, chef and owner of Michelin-recommended Mesa Farta in Tavira

The programme begins on September 4 at Coral – Éden do Mar, where Vilalara’s Diogo Pereira joins João Viegas, chef and owner of Michelin-recommended Mesa Farta in Tavira. Dedicated to the Atlantic, the menu focuses on coastal fish and seafood, with dishes including goose barnacles with galangal and cucumber, cured tuna belly with Madeira wine and langoustine with fermented cabbage, beurre noisette and fennel.

Alexandre Silva, Executive Chef of LOCO and Fogo in Lisbon

On September 5, Raízes welcomes Alexandre Silva, Executive Chef of LOCO and Fogo in Lisbon, in an evening centred on wood, embers and smoke. Highlights include charcoal-grilled matured bonito with almond cream, Minho beef cooked on the parrilla and Alentejo pork cheek with wood-fired oven rice.

Stefano Bulla, executive chef at Gusto by Heinz Beck in Almancil

Italian flavours take over Trattoria Pantaleone on September 7, welcoming Stefano Bulla, executive chef at Gusto by Heinz Beck in Almancil, to cook alongside Ricardo Lucas. The Mediterranean-inspired menu combines Italian tradition with Algarve ingredients through dishes such as vitello tonnato, stracciatella with pink tomato, Algarve figs and purslane, and fennel, anchovy and lemon tortellini.

Louis Anjos of Verdelago Resort

The series concludes on September 8 with an open-air dinner at Praça das Rosas overlooking the sea. Louis Anjos joins Diogo Pereira, Telmo Pires and Ricardo Lucas for a contemporary interpretation of Algarve cuisine inspired by the hills, vegetable gardens and coastline.

“There is something special about celebrating 60 years around the table. Gastronomy is part of Vilalara’s history, and these four evenings allow us to bring together different generations, different cuisines and different ways of looking at the Algarve. Welcoming these chefs to Vilalara is also a way of sharing who we are and what this place continues to inspire in those who visit,” says Diogo Pereira, senior head chef at Vilalara Grand Hotel Algarve.

The dinners on September 4, 5 and 7 cost €137 per person. The closing Algarve dinner on September 8 costs €60 per person and includes three dishes selected from a choice of six, with additional dishes available separately.

Setembro Gastronómico forms part of Vilalara Grand Hotel Algarve’s wider 60th anniversary programme, celebrating six decades through gastronomy, well-being, culture and the hotel’s heritage.
