Starting October 18, Danish photographer Jacob Gils will showcase his work, focusing on “Vistas” of Portugal
In The Pink Gallery, the fine photo art gallery located in Loulé, will be exhibiting works by Danish photographer Jacob Gils.
The photographer has established himself as “one of the frontrunners of impressionistic abstraction in the photographic medium, uniquely capturing movement by overlaying a multitude of images into a single shot”, shared the gallery.
From solo exhibitions to international festivals, Jacob Gils has exhibited his work around the globe, including in San Francisco, Shanghai, Miami, Paris and Seoul. The new exhibition “Vistas” at In the Pink will mark his first time showcasing his works in Portugal.
Jacob Gils uses multiple exposure techniques, generating engaging interpretations of iconic objects, structures and landscape vistas.
“At first glance, these multi-point images appear out of focus or shaken, but in fact, they consist of many different very sharp photographs of the same motifs, which are carefully combined to offer an illusion of being in motion.”
He often captures moving objects, such as the iconic Lisbon’s trams, or the wind blowing through the pines and palm trees of the Algarve.

The series presented in this exhibition will combine “a strong aesthetical point of view with meticulous attention to technical detail. His works are concerned with giving shape to temporal and spatial aspects inherent in all visual experience”.
The exhibition will be complemented by new and favourite photographic “Vistas” of Portugal on the first floor by previously exhibited artists, such as Albert Watson, Christian Chaize, Nuno Cera, João Mariano, Vasco Celio and, for the first time, Teresa Freitas.
Inaugurated in 2022, In the Pink gallery has already brought to Portugal some of the best photographers in the world, such as Philipp Keel, Rankin, David Yarrow, Vee Speers, Steve Schapiro, and many more.
In the Pink Gallery will be open between Tuesday and Friday from 10am to 6pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm.
