New experiences at Vila Vita’s Mizu Teppanyaki

Mizu Teppanyaki, located at the Vila Vita Parc resort, has introduced a revised Japanese tasting menu and a Thai dinner experience.

The new Japanese tasting menu brings together the restaurant’s most popular dishes since its opening, featuring sushi, live teppanyaki, and Japanese dishes adapted with local ingredients.

Meanwhile, the Thai dining experience is served only at the teppanyaki counter on Friday evenings.

The menu includes items such as Goong Crepe, Thai Mango Soup, Fried Rice, Satay Skewers, Kaeng Phet (Thai red curry), and coconut ice cream.

Three price points are available: €65, €75, and €98, depending on the dish combination selected. Mizu Teppanyaki is open Thursday to Monday for dinner.

Lobos brings fresh flavours to Dunas Douradas

Located in the heart of the Dunas Douradas development within the Golden Triangle, Lobos features the culinary direction of executive chef Diogo Martins. Its menu celebrates the freshest local ingredients, creating a fusion of national and international flavours.

Options range from fresh salads and seafood dishes to succulent steaks and Lobos’ special prawn dishes. All made in-house, the focaccia, hummus, sauces, and seasonings add a special touch to the dishes.

Open from 8am, it’s the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch, exclusive sunset cocktails, or dinner with friends and family.

Kimpton Atlântico Algarve unveils fine-dining restaurant

A new fine-dining restaurant has opened its doors in the Algarve, just steps from Praia de São Rafael in Albufeira.

Sombra, located within the newly launched Kimpton Atlântico Algarve, is described as a “sensorial ode to the link between the sea and the mountains”. Led by chef David Luísa, the restaurant showcases seasonal, locally sourced ingredients through two tasting menus: the Sombra Menu (€75) and the Vegetarian Sombra Menu (€65).

Each includes seven courses designed to reflect the rhythms of nature and the culinary heritage of the region.

Sombra is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 7pm to 11pm, with two seating times: 7pm and 8pm.

New book highlights Algarve gastronomy

Algarve – A Culinary Journey features contributions from several of the region’s leading chefs, including Noélia Jerónimo, João Marreiros, Hans Neuner, José Pinheiro, Nélia Nunes, Vasco Prudêncio, Ana Fonseca, and Isabel Ramos.

The book combines over 25 life stories, recipes, and landscapes to paint a rich picture of the Algarve beyond its beaches.

With seven international awards so far, the book is a hit in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, where it sold out in under eight months, and is now being published in both Portuguese and English.

Featuring writing by Rita Henss, photography by Markus Bassler and Anja Jahn, and art direction by Oliver Hick-Schulz, the book features over 70 recipes and 300 photographs.

Algarve – A Culinary Journey will be available from September 29 in selected outlets.
