Lagos Marina undergoes €12.5 million expansion

Lagos Marina has launched an expansion project including 102 new berths for vessels between 10 and 30 metres.

The first phase is expected to be completed by September, whilst work on the surrounding land and facilities is expected to be completed in 2027.

The new Yacht Club building will boast two floors, eight shops and terraces on the lower floor, whilst the upper floor will have a multipurpose area with an integrated indoor swimming pool, a lounge area, and a 360-degree viewpoint.

The marina’s management company Marlagos is also investing €3 million to provide additional berths for professional fishing vessels and spaces for local recreational boats with floating pontoons, massive fishing warehouses, and berths for the Lagos Sailing Club, which will also gain new facilities.

Arrow Global expands Algarve assets

British asset management company Arrow Global has acquired Browns Sports Resort in Vilamoura, further expanding its portfolio of Algarve properties. Spanning across 53,000 square metres of land, Browns Sports was previously known as Rock Garden, and has grown into one of the biggest sports tourism resorts in the region.

Boasting villas, high-level training facilities, a health club, spa, and dining areas, the resort caters to professional teams, athletes on training camps, and regular guests alike.

Over two decades, the resort has hosted hundreds of national and international teams.

Portimão cruise traffic surges

Portimão emerged as one of the bright spots of 2025 for Portugal’s southernmost ports, posting strong growth in cruise traffic.

According to the Sines and Algarve Port Administration (APS), Portimão Port stood out with a 40% year-on-year increase in cruise calls and a 70% jump in passenger numbers, reinforcing its growing role in the Mediterranean cruise market.

The port closed 2025 with 56 cruise ship calls and 23,996 passengers, figures that APS says confirm its appeal to mid-sized and luxury cruise operators and strengthen the Algarve’s position as a high-end tourism destination for cruises.
