From endurance racing at the Algarve International Racetrack and a 10km coastal swim, to an elite golf debut and weekly community runs
Lamera Cup 26 Hours of Portimão
Between September 5-7, the Algarve Racetrack will host the Lamera Cup 26 Hours of Portimão.

This endurance, strategy and effort management race challenges teams and drivers to exceed their limits over 26 intense hours.
The competition features cars with 300 horsepower and a super-sporty design and allows for progression and evolution in endurance and speed, keeping the true spirit of motorsport alive. Spectators can access the Paddock for an additional cost of €10 for the whole weekend.
Swim Party 10km
On September 6, Praia do Carvalho will host second edition of the open water swimming competition, Swim Party 10km.
Starting at 7am and finishing at Praia dos Caneiros, in Lagoa, the 10km competition can be performed individually or in a three-person relay team, covering distances of 2.5km, 1.8km and 5.7km.
There will be an electronic chip, official cap and event t-shirt, food, drinks, support in and out of the water, security, transport to and from the start and finish lines, and there will be a post-event party and lunch on the beach. The competition is part of the celebrations for the 55th anniversary of the Algarve Tourism Board (RTA).
Algarve to host new PGA Tour Champions event
Officials from PGA Tour Champions, Arrow Global Group, Turismo de Portugal and Turismo de Algarve announced a five-year partnership to host a new professional golf tournament in the Algarve.

The inaugural Portugal Invitational will debut next year, between July 31 and August 2, and will feature a field of 78 players, including World Golf Hall of Fame and PGA Tour Champions members, as well as Legends Tour members.
The first of its kind in Portugal, the event will be contested at the new Els Club Vilamoura, designed by seven-time PGA Tour Champions winner Ernie Els, and feature a purse of $3 million (around €2.5 million).
Quinta do Lago debuts Running Club
Quinta do Lago resort, in the Algarve’s Golden Triangle, has debuted a new Running Club for anyone looking to get into running or just to stay active this summer.

Until August 31, the Run Together club meets every Monday at The Campus at 8am for a 45-minute, 5km “Park Run Style” run, perfect to set your own pace, meet new people and “start your week on a positive note”. On Thursdays, also at 8am, the club challenges runners to improve their technique with a focus on intervals and motivation to “take your running to the next level”.
