Urban elegance: The new Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot Travel

The perfect accessory for coping with the urban hustle and bustle of everyday life

Patek Philippe continues to follow its singular path at the pinnacle of the global watchmaking industry, guided by flawless strategic planning and an unrivalled catalogue of timepieces.

Among the most compelling current models is the latest Calatrava Pilot Travel Time, released a decade after the original and reimagined with a striking new look inspired by aeronautics.

The 42mm white-gold case and the ivory-lacquered dial emphasise a somewhat vintage style that fits like a glove. The applied numerals, also in white gold, have been artificially darkened and filled with luminous material, as have the sword-shaped hour and minute hands, offering excellent readability in all conditions.

The watch is powered by the automatic calibre 26-330 S C FUS, which incorporates the Travel Time system, one of the brand’s most iconic and easily recognisable complications, with the unique feature of allowing the local-hour hand to be adjusted forwards or backwards in one-hour increments via pushers on the left side of the case. Day and night indicators for two time zones are positioned at 3 and 9 o’clock.

The set strikes a perfect balance between tradition and modernization, appealing to both long-standing collectors and new clients for the brand. In fact, the informal nature of the watch is a sign that Patek Philippe wants its products to be worn, rather than locked away in a safe, waiting for a hypothetical increase in value over time.

The new Calatrava Pilot is highly technical in its engineering, but discreet in its appearance, keeping the secrets of fine watchmaking within itself, whilst openly and captivatingly demonstrating the history of a timepiece that continues to be a highly coveted item.

Finished with a khaki-green composite strap in a textile pattern, the watch offers a power reserve of up to 45 hours and water resistance to 30 metres.
