‘Tivoli Art Collection – Make Room for Masterpieces’ brings contemporary art exploring colour, form and movement

Tivoli Marina Vilamoura is hosting a temporary exhibition entitled Geometry in Motion by British artist Tom Leamon.

Curated by Ana Goulão and open until April 29, the exhibition highlights a key phase in the artist’s work, known for its experimental approach and exploration of colour, material and gesture. His work moves between painting, sculpture and installation, bringing together intuition, process and formal structure.

Set across three areas, the exhibition begins on the upper floor near the restaurant entrance, where a sculpture and painting on a plinth set the tone and guide the viewer’s eye. Visitors are then led to the lower floor, where a large-scale painting forms the centrepiece, amplifying gesture, colour and energy to create a sense of continuous expansion.

Further along, a series of sculptures and paintings on wood explore the transition between physical material and pictorial composition. Cut-out surfaces, layered planes and dense tones create a narrative that moves between the tangible and the sensory.

Balancing geometric precision with creative spontaneity, Geometry in Motion reflects Tom Leamon’s ongoing exploration for balance and freedom. His works integrate naturally into the surrounding space, creating a visual journey that connects with the atmosphere of the hotel.

The exhibition forms part Tivoli Hotels & Resorts’ ongoing commitment to contemporary art through its Tivoli Art Collection – Make Room for Masterpieces initiative. The project brings together painting, sculpture, photography, digital and textile art, enriching the guest experience while integrating culture into the hotel environment.

Each exhibition is designed to reflect the identity of its destination, transforming hotel spaces into “places of discovery, inspiration and creativity”.

About the artist

Tom Leamon is a British visual artist, born in London in 1981, who currently lives between Portugal and the United Kingdom.

His work explores freedom, gesture and introspection in a world marked by constraints and routines. Through paintings and installation, he examines the unconscious and the cycle of existence (birth, growth, death, and rebirth), using symbols and gestural techniques that challenge the viewer on both an emotional and spiritual level.

His artistic journey began shortly after university, when he founded the collective Us So Far. At a time when opportunities in established galleries were limited, the group occupied derelict buildings across cities in the UK, creating independent and temporary exhibitions. This experience shaped his approach, combining artistic practice with curation and spatial intervention.

In 2004, he received a residency grant at Red Cow Studios, where he produced his first solo exhibition and developed his distinctive visual language.

Since then, he has presented his work in various international cities, with highlights including a solo exhibition at the Merzbau Gallery (Miami, 2016), participation in ArtRio (Rio de Janeiro, 2017), and the exhibition Stories from the Surgery at Casa Independente (Lisbon, 2019), as well as a collaboration with Frameless Gallery at the Untitled Art Fair (Miami).
