Perfect for James Bond; perfect for car lovers

Aston Martin made their stance clear at the launch of the new DB12: the replacement for the DB11 is not a Grand Tourer but a Super Tourer – the first of its kind.

Under the helm of Lawrence Stroll, the Aston Martin brand is flourishing far beyond its long-standing connection with the world’s most famous secret agent.

The market’s perception of the brand has been changing thanks to its successful turn in Formula 1 and the structured expansion of its catalogue. In addition to its legacy as a manufacturer of some of the most beautiful cars in history, the brand now presents a very welcome, richer side in technology and engineering.

Nevertheless, the DB12 is one of the best-looking cars around today, full of personality and with lines that combine the brand’s history with a distinct avant-garde flair.

Beautiful from every angle, it is an object of desire like very few others.

The DB11’s V12 has been replaced by a V8 biturbo engine developed by AMG in Affalterbach that delivers a whopping 680 horsepower and an impressive 800Nm between 2,750 and 6,000 revs per minute. Put simply, this means going from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.6 seconds and top speeds of over 325km/h.

The British engineers went to great lengths to extract every bit of performance from this unit, installing two larger turbochargers and carefully optimising the cooling system. The oil cooler has doubled in size, the crankshaft is more rigid and the compression ratio inside the cylinders has been increased. In turn, the eight-speed automatic transmission has undergone changes to better manage the V8’s power and torque.

There are five driving modesEco; Comfort; GT; Sport; and Sport Plus – and four for stability control: Wet; On; Off; and Track.

The interior is a paragon of sporty luxury, while retaining a certain classicism that suits the DB12 perfectly.

The 10.25-inch screen houses the first infotainment system fully developed by the British brand, which means that, as well as being improved in all its functions, it also allows remote updates and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Aston Martin, which has its own place in the global automotive spectrum, is entering what may be the most stable period in its history, and one of the most interesting too. The DB12 is a sign of that confidence in the future. And what a fabulous sign it is.
