Portugal’s vinho verde (‘green wine’) region is launching a new Vinho Verde Web Experience on February 13 and 14.
All wine tasters have to do is sign up, receive the bottles at home, and follow the wine tasting instructions. They’ll be able to taste wines from 20 producers across the region, in the comfort of their homes.
The selected wines are grouped under themes like “The terroirs and the wine profiles of the Vinho Verde Region, “Unique varieties: a treasure of the Region – Arinto and Avesso”, “Whites of Winter”, “Sparkling wines of the Vinho Verde Region,” “Loureiro – the most popular grape variety in the Region”, “Vinhos Verdes Reserva”, and “The red wines of the Vinho Verde Region.”
Each session, on the 13th and 14th of February, costs 15 euros, which includes three bottles of 0.75L.
“After a first edition in November, which showed strong adhesion and curiosity for the wines of the Region by consumers, CVRVV (Viticulture Commission of the Vinho Verde Region) is back to betting on Vinho Verde Web Experience in response to confinement with educational sessions” conducted by critics known as Luís Lopes and Fernando Melo,” the president of CVRVV, Manuel Pinheiro, said, according to local media.
Pinheiro added that the aim was “to explore the different profiles of vinho verde and all that there is to discover about different grape varieties” through the samples that the Commission will send to each participant.
